This oil on canvas (possibly from the 17th century), comes from the Bishop’s Palace of Lipari and depicts, taking up a recurring 16th-century pattern, The Madonna and Child and St. John; in the background, in half-light, stand observing the scene two figures who could be identified with St. Anne, mother of the Madonna (or St. Elizabeth, mother of the Baptist) and St. Joseph.
