On the infulae is embroidered the coat of arms of Monsignor Bernardino Salvatore Re (Bishop of Lipari from 1928 to 1963), a Palermo-born Capuchin who led the Diocese of Lipari for more than thirty years, distinguishing himself for his pastoral zeal and enlightened governance. During his long episcopate, in addition to numerous initiatives for the spiritual growth of the faithful, he worked for the recovery of many assets and visited the communities of Aeolian emigrants in the United States of America and Australia.
