It contains the first attestation of the silver statue of St Bartholomew ‘with his silver skin in his right arm and large silver knife in his left fist, with his painted wooden pedestal’.

It contains a sort of chronicle of the life of the Church in the Aeolian Islands from its earliest origins to the end of the 18th century. The author of this precious history of Christianity in the Aeolian Islands, which is inevitably intertwined with local and international civil history, is Giuseppe La Rosa, a lawyer and consultant to the University of Lipari, belonging to one of the noble families of the island’s ancient ‘Gentil’Uomini’ (Gentlemen), already in existence at the beginning of the 17th century, after the destruction of Barbarossa.
